A common and difficult problem faced by Clients of Mental Health,
Marriage and Family, and Substance Abuse Counselors is disconnection – burnt
bridges, alienation, self-sabotage, and the road no one else is traveling.
To help clients find their way, to reconnect with people and support
they desperately need, Pat Love, Ed D. and PICD will be presenting
a two-day workshop drawing from new research in the field of neurophysiology.
During the past five years neuroscience research has opened many
doors to understanding of love, sex and gender differences and problems.
The question Pat Love will address in her workshop is what to do
with this information, i.e. how do we integrate these new concepts
into the everyday course of therapy? Some common counseling techniques
are now contraindicated and Pat will focus on how to replace them
with more robust and effective approaches. The workshop will cover
such subjects as the physiology of love and sex, anxiety, depression,
neurotransmitter deficiency syndrome, gender roles, addiction and
techniques for repair and connection.
