PICD Mission:

PROVIDE SUBSTANCE ABUSE-RELATED TRAINING TO INDIVIDUALS WORKING IN THE FIELD OF CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY AS WELL AS THOSE WORKING IN THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FIELD WHOSE CLIENTS MAY HAVE SUBSTANCE ABUSE-RELATED PROBLEMS.

PICD History:

Conceived of in the mid-eighties as a “coming-together” of Hawaii’s Substance Abuse Professionals to share their expertise and talent, the first Annual Pacific Institute of Chemical Dependency was held in January of 1986. In 1987 local experts were joined by mainland speakers and practitioners, and by 1989 PICD was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors.

In the years since PICD has striven to provide a wide range of substance abuse training to health care providers to an effort to help them serve their clients in a more effective manner.
